    Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position that has risen at the Women’s University in Africa

    Reports to the ICT Administrator, Information Systems.

    RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY TASKS

    Software Development

    • Design, code, and debug software applications, ensuring a high level of performance and reliability on Linux and Windows environments.
    • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.

    Coding and Programming:

    • Write well-designed, efficient, and maintainable code in languages such as PHP, Java, Python, C++, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript or others as required.
    • Implement software solutions that adhere to coding standards and best practices.

    System Architecture:

    • Contribute to the design and architecture of software systems, considering scalability, security, and usability.
    • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and knowledge sharing.

    Testing and Quality Assurance:

    • Develop and execute unit tests and integration tests to ensure software functionality and reliability.
    • Debug and resolve software defects and issues promptly.

    Collaboration:

    • Work closely within cross-functional teams, drawing expertise from various university departments and external stakeholders, to deliver quality software solutions.
    • Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

    Documentation:

    • Create and maintain technical documentation for software applications, including design documents, API documentation, and user manuals.

    Continuous Learning:

    • Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in

    software development.

    • Share knowledge and insights with the team to foster a culture of continuous

    improvement.

    Problem-Solving:

    • Analyze and troubleshoot complex software issues, proposing effective solutions.
    • Collaborate with team members to address technical challenges and optimize

    software performance.

    Version Control:

    • Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage and track changes to the

    base code.

    Security and Compliance:

    • Implement security measures to protect software applications from

    vulnerabilities.

    • Ensure software compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

    QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

    • Recently acquired Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Professional qualifications are an added advantage.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
